What is Changing. 

What do Blockchain, IoT, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics all have in common? They are disrupting and changing our organizations and societal culture.

Our lives, the way we do business, the way we interact with others at work, and the society at large are being transformed by many of the 4th Industrial Revolution technologies such as AI, Robotics, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Autonomous Vehicles, 3D printing, Quantum Computing, and Nanotechnology.

These innovations are becoming a common part of the workplace and business strategy. The implication being disruption to ‘business as usual’, as well as the rise and demand for new skills and types of jobs. 

In the 2019 report by the World Economic Forum, it was estimated that of the 1.37 million workers who are predicted to be displaced by automation in the next decade, only one in four will be profitably reskilled by private-sector programs, with the rest most likely expected to fend for themselves or rely on the government for assistance.

Some familiar ways in which these technologies are changing things include:

• Retail organizations’ use of chatbots for gift recommendations
• Hotels and Hospitals’ use of robots to welcome guest and run errands
• The use of AI to find and combat the sale of fake luxury goods online
• Healthcare organizations’ use of AI to provide personalized answers to patient questions 
• Autonomous cars and the increasing presence of autopilot features in airplanes
• Smartcity integration of technology and IoT to manage traffic flow in real time
